Texoma Family Salsa
For family & friend gatherings, I often make two versions, one spicy and one with very little spice so everyone can enjoy.
For this recipe, you will need Southwest Soul Dust Find it here…
Texoma Family Salsa
Ingredients
- 2 14.5 oz cans Del Monte brand Mexican Recipe Stewed Tomatoes This recipe is 100% better by using Del Monte Mexican Recipe Stewed Tomatoes. I have tried other brands of Mexican style tomatoes and it never turns out as well.
- 2 Whole Jalapeno peppers, cut up in 1” pieces Adjust this recipe to your liking by seeding the jalapenos for less heat or adding a third jalapeno for more heat.
- 1/2 Medium red onion, coarsley chopped
- 1 Bunch (handful) fresh Cilantro or more or less, to your preference
- 1 tsp ground Cumin
- 1 tsp Southwest Soul Dust
- Kosher Salt & fresh ground black Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Add jalapeno, onion, and cilantro to food processor and pulse until lightly chopped, not pureed.
- Drain one can of the Mexican Recipe Stewed Tomatoes and then add contents of both cans (1 with liquid, 1 drained) to bowl of food processor.
- Sprinkle in the cumin, southwest soul dust and salt & pepper.
- Pulse about 4 times. We like our salsa a little chunky but pulse until the salsa is of your desired consistency.
- Serve with a good brand of tortilla chips. We especially love Julio’s Tortilla Chips.

Adjust this recipe to your liking by seeding the jalapenos for less heat or adding a third jalapeno for more heat.
Jalapenos with white streaks on the skin, typically indicate a hotter pepper.
Add a clove of garlic in the first step, or garlic powder if you prefer a more ‘garlicky’ flavored salsa.
If you don’t have Southwest Soul Dust, salsa is still delish without it.
